Knowledge is Power

The saying “Knowledge Is Power” is one we have heard since we were kids, but it often goes ignored or even worse, looked down upon. Growing up we get this sense that it’s not “cool” to be smart, but there’s nothing cooler than being smart in my eyes.

Knowing how to use the technology around us, understanding politics & our history, speaking multiple languages, letting your creativity flourish through reading, learning the basics of accounting, knowing how to change a tire on the side of the road. There are so many things for us to learn in this world, yet far too often we rely on systems in place that make our lives easier by doing everything for us. They’re nice to have, don’t get me wrong, but if something shouldn’t work right or become unavailable don’t you want to be able to rely on yourself, as well?

Teaching our children to explore their minds and capabilities is the perfect starting point, but we need to be harnessing our potential as adults, too. Never stop learning!

Here’s some programs I like that help us stay on our A-Game and encourage our youth to start learning new traits and never stop!

Kode With Klossy

It’s no secret that our world has become exponentially changed by technology and a part of our every-day life, but do we actually know how it works or just how to use a product we’ve been provided?

Kode With Klossy is a summer program run by supermodel Karlie Kloss for young women and non-binary individuals ages 13-18 that teaches their students how to build real-life apps, publish a website, learn data science and understand how to read & write lines of code. This knowledge can help young women feel empowered in an industry most don’t consider going into and allows them to learn tools that can assist them in their future.

The best part: It’s FREE! Yes, you read that correctly — it’s FREE for them to attend and that’s why our donations and sponsorship are so important!

Coursera

Coursera has multiple programs to learn from for all ages! Politics always seemed to be the course I wanted to snooze in during my K-12 years and I wish I paid more attention! Maybe it was having the right teacher, maybe it was having the right mindset. Either way, it’s an important part of our past, present and future and Coursera is an amazing place for us to learn!

Most courses are FREE (yay for free!) and taught by extremely reputable sources such as Yale University, University of London, John Hopkins University and more.

There are plenty of subjects for you to choose from: Arts & Humanities, Business, Language Learning, Math & Logic, Political Sciences, Engineering, Personal Development…the possibilities are endless! You can choose the course level you feel most comfortable with (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Mixed) so it’s perfect for kids and adults. All of us deserve to treat our minds with more knowledge!

Masterclass

Masterclass is an online database where you can learn from the most inspiring artists, leaders and icons in the world. This is an amazing place to learn new skills or enhance a skill you’ve already started working on. At $15/month (billed annually), the price point is incredible for all the knowledge you receive right at your fingertips.

Learn about Arts & Entertainment from Jodie Foster, the Duffer Brothers, Natalie Portman, Judd Apatow or Martin Scorsese. Become Business savvy with Bob Iger, Ana Wintour, Marc Jacobs, Robin Roberts and Paul Krugman. Enhance your Musical talents with Christina Aguilera, Danny Elfman, Reba McEntire, Mariah Carey and Usher. Learn to tell your story through Writing courses from R.L.
