Everyone always raves about how amazing Savannah is, but I didn’t understand the obsession until I visited.

Many places have been going through a weird phase these past few years: corporate everything, tall skinnies taking the place of classic homes, “improvements” that are code for tearing everything down — you know the drill. Visiting Savannah though transports you back into a time when people believed in charm, savoring every moment and genuinely experiencing a place and the time spent there.

The architecture practically comes to life. Spanish moss hanging from the oaks begs you to look up and feel the romance in the air. History is shared everywhere you look. No surprise there, given Savannah is the oldest city in Georgia.

It’s romantic, gorgeous, all-encompassing, seductive. A truly sweet Southern Sanctuary mixed with a haunted history and indulgences for every one of your senses.

It’s a place you have to see and taste for yourself, but until you get the chance, join me on this 3-day excursion through the Historic Downtown District.

P.S. - I brought my pup Maddi with me so this entire trip is dog-friendly!

Where to Stay

I usually like to stay in hotels rather than an Airbnb so I can have all the amenities right there on-site and more security, but when visiting here I knew I wanted a place with more charm & character. Somewhere that really made me feel like I was transported into the time warp that Historic Savannah sends you into. East Bay Inn did not disappoint! I will be staying here every time I visit. It’s absolutely amazing!

I drove from Nashville and arrived later than expected (shocker! I’m the late queen) but ready to check-in and get settled — plus get my complimentary drink. You can go to the Tandem Coffee & Spirits connected to the lobby for your complimentary drinks each night, however on Sundays they have a little mixer in the lobby which I sadly just missed, but Mallory was so sweet and gave us the bottle that was leftover. No complaints here. I’ll gladly take 3 free glasses instead.

East Bay Inn was the perfect home for a few days for me and my pup! The entire staff made us feel so welcome every time we saw someone. They had a little doggy welcome bag for her that included snacks, a ball and brochure for Oliver & Bentley’s Dog Walking Tour. If you ever wondered if Savannah was a dog-friendly town, the fact that there’s a Dog Walking Tour that usually sells out should tell you everything. By the second day Maddi was walking into the lobby like she lived there and giving hugs to the sweet housekeepers that always left a little something extra for her during our room refreshes.

The cutest inn perfectly located directly across from Savannah's Riverfront so that you can walk everywhere and feel like you're coming home after a day on the town with your pup!

I could go on all day about how amazing my time was at East Bay Inn but let’s get to the really good stuff and start exploring!

East Bay Historic Inn is located at 225 E Bay St

First Night

After a 7-hour drive I was deeply in need of some good food and Savannah has so many delicious options to choose from that are open late. The hotel said Treylor Park had great food so we took their word for it and I’m so glad we did! It was literally a block down road, maybe 5-minute walk and had the cutest little beer garden style patio in the back. I was planning to grab something to-go given the long day driving but it was such a calm & casual vibe that staying to enjoy my meal and a local beer was the perfect way to spend my first night — plus everyone absolutely adored Maddi!

We tried their Patty Melt (you can never go wrong with one of these) and the Caprese sandwich (+ fried chicken). Holy lord!! We were blown away with how good they were! I can’t exactly put my finger on it but their fried chicken seemed to have a maple cinnamon flavor. Yes, I tried to get the recipe. No, I was not successful. Did I enjoy every second of that sandwich though? Absolutely!

Treylor Park is located at 115 E Bay Street.

Day 1:

I’m convinced this town is magic just because of the fact that I was up at 7am and happy about it. Typically I will be up early, but on a vacation and after a long day of driving, plus having a few drinks the night before, I honestly didn’t have faith I’d be up by 9am. Savannah just knew I needed to get up and take in all the beauty she had to offer.

Start with Brunch from Collins Quarter at Forsyth

I was dying to see the squares and really see the neighborhood so walking to Collins Quarter at Forsyth for brunch was the perfect way to really kick off this trip. It was a bit of a misty morning, but that simply added to the town’s charm and also solidified my plan for getting a hop-on/off tour. Best idea ever! Do not skip it.

Fortunately, as soon as we made it to Collins Quarter at Forsyth the misty showers stopped and we could sit outside to enjoy a delicious brunch in a practically empty Forsyth Park. Given that it’s the #1 recommended park, I took it as a blessing to have it almost all to myself.

This Australian-inspired eatery is modeled after cozy cafés in Melbourne and offers innovative cuisine with a very laidback environment. The inside was such a cute space, but the Forsyth Park location is quite literally IN the park, not just across the street or nearby. Sign me up to eat inside one of the most gorgeous parks any day. I will gladly be there!

While eating on their lovely patio we enjoyed having the park to ourselves before people starting coming back outside. Apparently Savannah’s weather is just like Florida’s and changes every 20 minutes so if you’re thinking you should stay inside just because of some light rain…don’t! Grab your umbrella, get out there and enjoy having an extremely popular town to yourself.

I needed my caffeine fix and given that Collins Quarter is an Aussie-inspired restaurant with Australian coffee, I knew this was THE spot to get me awake and ready for Day 1.

In case you didn’t know, Australian coffee is like crack! It comes in hot & strong and goes all day.

I chose the Spiced Lavender Mocha and it truly hit the spot. We split the Crab Cake Benedict and the Seasonal French Toast plus seasonal Ginger Peach Iced Tea 😍 Everything was amazing! Even the side salad that came with the Benny had the most delicious citrusy dressing. I also ordered Maddi some bacon because, let’s be real, she can’t go a single day without being spoiled.

Collins Quarter at Forsyth is located at 621 Drayton Street.

NOTE: There’s another location downtown at 151 Bull St (Forsyth is definitely my favorite though)

Old Savannah Trolley Tours (Hop On & Off)

I chose Old Savannah Trolley Tours because they were dog friendly and had wonderful reviews! There’s another one that’s orange and green called Old Town Tours but it was a bit more expensive and reviews were more mixed.

I know trolley tours are a bit touristy but sometimes, it’s kinda nice to be a tourist. This was definitely one of those times and Maddi was given a warm welcome as soon as we stepped onboard. She enjoyed herself so much that when we were walking around Savannah afterwards so many people stopped her to ask “is this the dog from the trolley?!” At this point, I’m convinced she was one of the planned sites to see.

This was a wonderful tour with lots of history & fun guides plus it’s a great way to get around on your own time between 9-4:30.

Old Savannah Tours is extremely pet-friendly & Maddi approved!

Old Savannah Tours was my favorite! I suggest doing a full tour from start to finish, then hopping on & off others throughout the day.

We got on three different trollies with Old Savannah Tours — once the full 90 minute ride to gain a larger perspective of Savannah and understand our surroundings a little better, then got on and off to explore on foot. Yay for not needing to call any ubers!

I feel like I got even more than I paid for this way because we got a different guide each time and, while they all discuss the same main points, each person’s take is different. Bailey loved covering more details about women’s history and had the very best puns. Mark is a veteran and gave a deeper knowledge of battle stories. Melissa was into everything spooky so we got a bit of a ghost tour preview. I don’t think I would’ve had the opportunity to learn as much as I did if I’d decided to just do one 90-minute ride and then walk the rest of the day.

Take A Stroll Along the Riverfront

This area is one of the best places to shop, taste delicious southern food & sweets and watch the ships pass. Maddi was welcome in every shop we visited so be sure to bring your fur babies along.

You can also book a cruise along the river! They are offered during the day, but there’s also buffet dinner cruises and late evening cruises.

Fun Fact: this 9-block pedestrian plaza is located on the former grounds of the city’s cotton exchange

River Street comes to life when the sun goes down and has a wonderful nightlife. If you visit early in the day be sure to come back at night to enjoy gorgeous sunsets, lively street performers and the wonderful aroma of food and sweets.

Savannah Bee Company

I’ve been a huge fan of Savannah Bee Company for years now. They have a few stores in different states now, but they originally opened in Savannah. I enjoyed a mead tasting and took home a delicious bottle of Black Currant Mead, plus some different honeys and, of course, a Pumpkin Spice Whipped honey. I’m the most basic girl ever when it comes to holidays. I will forever buy anything pumpkin spiced and I have absolutely no shame!

Their Flagship store opened in 2008 on charming, historic Broughton Street so you can check out either location and still get the full experience.

You can enjoy a tasting of all their honeys & honey-sweetened beverages as well to see which ones you like the most, plus sample a variety of hive-inspired body care (their hand & body creams are phenomenal). Don’t forget to sign up for their rewards program and get a discount when you shop!

Savannah Bee Company River Street is located at 1 West River St
Flagship Store is located at 104 West Broughton St

NOTE: There’s a showroom location at 211 Johnny Mercer Blvd
It’s about 15 minutes from Historic Downtown District and you can experience a Bee Garden Tour!

Candy Kitchen

If you’re trying to be healthy and not indulge, I suggest doing that once you go back home. The sweets at Candy Kitchen are way too amazing to pass up! The pralines melted in your mouth and they offer free samples. This is the perfect place to get you sweet tooth fix.

The store was packed with a variety of treats from ice cream to candy, pop corn, truffles and fudges galore! I felt like I walked into the candy shop from Willy Wonka. It’s worth the cheat day!

Savannah’s Candy Kitchen is located at 225 E River St

Huey’s On The River

Huey’s is on of the most popular restaurants and for good reason. My mother enjoyed their brunch years ago and still raves about how amazing everything was. They’re known for their Seafood, Cajun & Creole style dishes but most of all, their beignets.

If you’re like me and unable to sit down to enjoy a whole meal, do yourself a favor and at least get an order of beignets to-go. Your pup is welcome on the patio where you can people watch and take in the beauty of Savannah’s riverfront.

Huey’s On The River is located at 115 E River St

Wexford’s Irish Pub for Dinner

It’s always a good day for a Guinness!

I’m a sucker for a good Irish pub and Wexford’s was one of the best I’ve ever been to! We ordered the Fish & Chips and Mac & Cheese with Bacon. Dear sweet baby Jesus, I will be dreaming about this food for months!

I will admit that part of me was like “what are you thinking spending good money on mac & cheese…it’s mac & cheese.” Let me tell you now, that is the most amazing mac & cheese I’ve ever had in my life! Better than even my Irish grandma could’ve made — sorry Grandma Helen, don’t kill me!

They used Dubliner cheese, which if you’ve never tried it before, run to the store now and get it! It’s truly the most delicious melt-in-your-mouth cheese!

The Fish & Chips was perfect and came with the most delicious house-made tartar sauce.

We sat outside in the square with Maddi. There was a Woof Gang Bakery right next door so we got her a little treat to enjoy while we dined and listened to live music.

Wexford’s is perfectly situated on the corner of Savannah’s famous City Market, allowing you to sit directly in the middle of the open aired pedestrian promenade with Ellis Square as your background.

Be sure to check out the inside to be transported to Ireland in this cozy & classic Irish pub design!

Wexford, Savannah’s Irish Pub is located at 27 Barnard St

Leopold’s Ice Cream Parlor

No trip to Savannah is complete without a visit to Leopold's Ice Cream Parlor! As one of the top 10 ice cream parlors in the world, Leopold's is a "Must Do!"

Maddi loved her own personal doggy sundae but still had to beg for my Lemon Custard & Rum Bisque ice cream. Honestly, I can’t blame her because they were to die for!

There’s usually a long line all day long but we got there about 20 minutes before they closed and walked right in. We wandered inside to check out the cutest blast from the past design then sat outside so they didn’t have to take care of us while closing up inside.

This retro-styled parlor opened in 2004, but was founded by 3 brothers from Greece in 1919. The moment you walk inside you smell the fresh waffle cones, see the heavenly choices of ice cream and feel like you’ve stepped back in time.

It’s like a movie! So much so that there’s Hollywood movie memorabilia everywhere. There are posters all over of movies you’re sure to know: Mission Impossible III, The Sum of All Fears, Captain America: The First Avenger, Star Trek, The General’s Daughter, Parker and many more. Wondering why?

One of the brothers, Stratton Leopold, left Savannah to pursue his dreams in Hollywood. Clearly, things went very well for him! Now we get to enjoy the family’s delicious hand-crafted ice cream while admiring all the amazing archives and souvenirs of Stratton’s work that I’m sure many of you have loved for years.

FUN FACT: Famed lyricist Johnny Mercer grew up just a block away from Leopold’s and worked at the shop as a boy!

P.S. Mr Leopold, if you wouldn’t mind hooking a girl up with Sebastian Stan that would be great. K thanks!

Leopold’s Ice Cream is located at 212 E Broughton St

Day 2:

After a great first day on the town I was ready to explore even more! I was also wishing I could buy a gorgeous home on Macon or Oglethorpe but until I stumble upon $5 million, I’ll just be admiring them for free. Today, I wanted to venture outside of the Historic District a little and check out Wormsloe Historic Site. Before going anywhere though, let’s grab a bite to eat.

B. Matthews Eatery for Breakfast

When visiting such a gorgeous place like Savannah, sitting outside is always a good idea! We walked a block down Bay St to try out B. Matthews Eatery and sat outside with Maddi. There was another pup there for her to make friends with which was the perfect way for her to spend brunch.

I was hesitant to try their Fried Green Tomato & Crab Cake Benny since I’d had a similar breakfast the prior morning but the Fried Green Tomato was calling my name and I am so glad I answered! It truly made the dish so much better.

They also offer an appetizer of fried green tomatoes so you can try something else without missing out on these gems. I was fully committed to seafood options when I had the chance. Being a Florida native living in Nashville makes me really miss having fresh seafood so I was taking full advantage of these delicious, fresh dishes!

We also ordered the Veggie Scramble with some gravy for the buttermilk biscuit.

I know The South takes pride in their biscuits and gravy but these are THE biscuits and gravy to be proud of! Seriously, if you order something that doesn’t come with them, order a side because they cannot be missed!

B. Matthews Eatery is located at 325 E Bay St

Wormsloe Historic Site

I had been wanting to visit Wormsloe Historic Site for years!

Anyone remember The Last Song and Miley Cyrus sticking her head out Will’s car while he shows her the gorgeous mansion he lives in? Yeah, that would be Wormsloe.

The Plantation itself is a private residence so you can’t visit inside but you can see it when driving down Live Oak Avenue.

Many people have said they wouldn’t visit here given its dark history, as with many plantations and historic sites in The South — think Blake Lively having to apologize for where she got married. Honestly though, this entire country is built on a dark history. Literally, the home you’re living in is on ground that was stolen (quite harshly) from the Indians.

I say go where you want to go. See what you want to see. Educate yourself while you’re there because the only way history repeats itself is by sweeping things under the rug and “canceling” everything.

This place is absolutely gorgeous and allows you to learn so much. It’s the oldest tidewater estate in Georgia and has remained in the hands of the same family for almost 300 years! It’s been used in so many different ways: the plantation you see in the movie that is still where the family lives today, a military stronghold, farm, historic site and the tourist attraction that you can now visit for just $10.

This breathtaking mile-long avenue is the most enchanting driveway you will ever see!

They used to allow people to drive down it and park at the colonial tabby ruins, but they’ve recently streamlined it to be much more functional. Now, you’ll park at the Visitors Center just 250 feet past the iconic Wormsloe gate and a tram comes by every 30-40 minutes. You’re allowed to walk down the avenue if you prefer to take things at your own pace.

We decided to take the tram which allowed us to learn a lot of history and fun facts from Ranger Rick, the nicest guide ever! Maddi established herself as the VIP (Very Important Pup) and everyone just loved seeing her enjoy the ride!

I’m so glad I got this dress from Amazon! It was perfect for today & staying cool in the South while still feeling pretty!

We strolled through the museum detailing the history of Wormsloe and what times were like back then for the colonists, from how they built the homes to how they practiced medicine — truly don’t think I could ever be a doctor after looking at the tools in a doctor’s bag and what they were used for!

A quick stroll down the path led us to the 18th century Tabby Ruins. It was originally Noble Jones’s home with 8-foot tall walls and built from Tabby (lime, sand, oyster shells and water).

From there you can walk to the Observation Deck and take in the serene views of the Isle of Hope River marshes. During the 1730’s to 1740’s the marines were garrisoned here and able to keep a close eye on this commonly used waterway. The Diamond Causeway just past the trees in the distance decreased the traffic along this waterway and clogged it with silt so now it’s a gorgeous place to sit and enjoy some peace & quiet.

The Colonial Life Area was just over the creek from the Observation Deck and allows you to see what it was like for settlers and Jones’s marines to live, work and cook during these times.

After checking out all the sites — along with the Jones Family Gravesite and the Heritage Garden that we didn’t visit — you stroll down the 2.5 mile Battery Trail loop and find yourself back at the museum. You can walk back down the Famous Live Oak Avenue or await the next tram to bring you back to the Visitors Center.

Overall, I’d say this is a must-see for those who appreciate history. It was certainly enlightening for us to learn about this beautiful site’s past.

The Olde Pink House for Dinner

I was definitely on the fence about this one. When looking at places, The Olde Pink House was always high on the list and also high on price.

It was my birthday night so I decided to bite the bullet and see what all the commotion was about. I’m so glad I did because it’s a must and lives up to the hype!

The restaurant’s interior is gorgeous and varies from room to room. It’s low-lit, romantic, intimate & dripped in charm with every step. This doubles as an attraction with one of the most unique experiences. Our server Claudia was fantastic and helped us stay engaged in the dining experience, as well as the history. She knew so much about the house and dazzled us with her story telling.

Fun Fact: The Olde Pink House was a bank in 1811.
Explore the tavern downstairs and see the old bank vault that has since been turned into a wine cellar

Maddi was welcome on the patio and allowed to walk through the house with me, as well. Claudia and every passer-by made sure to give her the love she deserves.

I started with The Olde Pink House “Pink Lady”. An exquisite yet spicy fresh lemonade with Ghost Coast Distillery raspberry vodka.

Similar to most nice restaurants, you’re presented with bread and butter before dinner. The Olde Pink House takes it up 10 notches with the most delicious secret recipe (yes, I asked) Cheesy Cathead Biscuits with Honey Butter.

They’re the best biscuits I’ve ever had, and that’s coming from someone who lives in Nashville. Fluffy. Buttery. Salted just right. Heaven!

We’ve established I’m a sucker for fried green tomatoes so, naturally, I had to try theirs. Not wanting to fill up on an appetizer, we were able to order a single order for each of us. I highly recommend trying them — they’re unlike any I’ve ever had!

Time for the Stars of the Menu!

The Flounder needs to be tried! This flaky fish topped with a sweet & slightly tangy apricot sauce will blow your mind. Perfectly accompanied by the stand-out, terrific sides of creamy stone ground grits and collard greens.

The Jumbo Scallops, meticulously topped with a savory herb butter over a bed of luscious mashed potatoes and slightly sweet green beans, have the key to my heart!

I was fully satisfied with dinner, but there was no way I could say no to dessert!

I’ve never experienced something as delectable as their Peanut Butter & Praline Mousse Bombe. This rich ganache covered treat came home with me and shamelessly became part of my breakfast the next morning.

Finally, after your meal tour the house and don't forget to check out the two bars — especially the tavern in the basement.

NOTE: Make A Reservation!! Even during the slower months they can be booked for 2-3 months

When we arrived we heard someone asking if they had tables available and it was a 2 hour wait which means eating at 9:30pm.

The Olde Pink House is located at 23 Abercorn St

Complimentary Drinks at East Bay Inn

How did I possibly forget about my free drinks?! We had been so enthralled with Savannah the previous night that somehow we forgot about our complimentary drinks. I forgot free wine? Genuinely, who am I?

When staying at one of the Historic Inns of Savannah Collection, you get a complimentary drink for each person every night.

Since we’d forgotten this the previous night and didn’t have a chance to use our drink card Sunday night, we got to come back to the hotel and enjoy 3 free glasses of wine.

Our bartenders Josh and Tiffany were amazing! We started chatting with some wonderful guests and locals so, naturally, 3 glasses turned into 5. We also met the owner Rafael who was the happiest patron himself and really made us feel welcome.

It was the perfect ending for the night. Remember, that if you stay at East Bay Inn or any of the Historic Inns of Savannah Collection locations: you get a free nightly drink!

Day 3:

With only 24 hours left in this wonderful town I was determined to see as much as I possibly could on foot and savor everything from the scents in the cool breezy air to the vintage southern details of each historic home. Grab your walking shoes and let’s go!

Breakfast at Mirabelle

Belgian waffles? Yes Please! 😍

Not only is this the most adorable restaurant, but it’s in the perfect location for starting your walking trip through Savannah.

Pumpkin season just started and I love everything about it! I needed some caffeine and their Pumpkin White Mocha Latte hit the spot. Their espresso machine was down so I substituted with their Cold Brew.

Fall flavors were in full effect! The Caramel Apple Pie Waffle was deliciously sweet & satisfying. We still needed a little savory goodness which was perfectly found in the Croque Monsieur — both on the most epic Belgian waffle!

What could make this better? Oh, I know…the best view of Cathedral Basilica you could ever hope for! Eat outside at one of their bistro tables and watch people visit the gorgeous church and Lafayette Square less than 100 feet away.

Wander Savannah’s Historic District on Foot

Seeing as Cathedral Basilica was directly across the street, there was no better place to start. Maddi was sadly not allowed inside so we had to take turns going in. I’m not religious but it’s such a beautiful piece of history to see & respect! This is the oldest Roman Catholic church in Georgia, opened in 1873, and the details will truly take your breath away.

Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist

Forsyth park wandering

This big, beautiful park spans over 30 acres! It’s the city’s oldest park and has something for everyone: 2 children’s playgrounds, basketball & tennis courts, the iconic Forsyth Park Fountain, plus a concert & event space that may have something fun going on for you to take part in if you visit at the right time.

We could’ve easily spent the rest of the morning here enjoying nature and letting Maddi mingle with multiple pups.

FUN FACT: the fountain was ordered from a catalog & meant to emulate the Fontaine des Mers at the Place de la Concorde in Paris

Garden of Fragrance inside Forsyth Park

Don’t skip this small but pretty, little flower garden inside Forsyth Park. It’s filled with scented flowers and plants. Quiet and secluded, allowing you to literally stop and smell the roses.

You can find it just to the right of the playground next to Collins Quarter. It’s best to visit and enjoy it in the weekday morning or early afternoon, as the gates lock at 2pm.

Chippewa Square

The Famous Forrest Gump Bench

Sadly the actual bench used during filming of Forrest Gump is no longer in the square. You can visit it at the Savannah History Museum! I decided to play my hand at photo editing and it went about as well as expected. Still a gorgeous square and still got to be in the same place as the gem that is Tom Hanks.

Doggy Favorites

Woof Gang has the most amazing doggy treats & even a snack bar to build a bag of over 20 different treats!

Maddi went home with some great dog cookies while I was happy to take back some Pumpkin Spiced Cookies!

Neighborhood Strolling

Wandering around admiring the homes in the Historic District was one of the best ways to spend the day. Plus I found my people! One home already had pumpkins out while others proudly dawned a Hocus Pocus and Ireland flag. If I didn’t feel at home before, now I really do.

The Gingerbread House is just as beautiful in person as I hoped it would be!

Mercer House
I must admit, I hadn't read the book or seen Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil before visiting. It's based on a true story and the real murder, along with the filming, took place in this home. Do yourself a favor and check this home out! They offer a tour but sadly Maddi wasn't allowed inside.

They spelt it a little wrong but I appreciate Savannah giving me a street

In all seriousness though, if you like looking into your history like I do and are of Irish descent, you'll be very happy to find a whole lotta Irish gems in this town.
Éire go brách!

Seafood Shack for Dinner

I was craving some steamed seafood and remembered walking past Seafood Shack when going to Leopold’s. The smells were drawing me in that night and I truly couldn’t leave Savannah without stopping here.

The location was perfect & truly satisfied my seafood craving!

It’s right on Broughton St and great for people watching while enjoying some delicious steamed crawfish, shrimp, mussels, clams & king crab legs with potatoes & corn on the cob.

We added a side of cole slaw which was the perfect companion!

Directly across the street is The Marshall House, one of Savannah’s nicer Historic Hotels with a classy restaurant downstairs. We couldn’t ask for a better way to enjoy our last night in town.

Enjoy Your Last Complimentary Drink at East Bay Inn

We walked back to our hotel and went straight to Tandem Coffee & Spirits for our final complimentary glasses of wine…that turned into a bottle again. Rafael was there once again to chat with us and we got some extra bags of Byrd cookies from one of the girls who works at the River Street location. We’d met her the night before and loved talking with her.

The people here are genuinely so sweet and take Southern Hospitality seriously. It’s just such a welcoming town!

Drive Home

Sadly, all good things must come to an end. I could’ve stayed here forever! Who knows, maybe one day I’ll be able to buy one of these classic southern homes and be able to enjoy Savannah every day. #Goals

Goose Feathers cafe & bakery for delicious to-go’s.

We wanted to pick up some easy grab & go items for breakfast that would keep us full for a bit along with a few goodies that would travel well when we needed a snack.

Our bartender Tiffany at Tandem mentioned a place called Goose Feathers which was only a few blocks from the hotel.

This place had amazing Bacon, Egg & Cheese Croissant sandwiches and a plethora of sweet pastries, bagels, and more!

We were set and ready for our journey home with some amazing pastries and cookies along with our breakfast sandwiches.

Pups are allowed to eat outside with you but we wanted to get on the road before some bad weather moved in so Maddi had to beg us to share food in the car.

Goose Feathers is located 39 Barnard St

Maddi was sad to leave Savannah, too, but give her a cozy bed and her Buc-ee Beaver and she'll be happy!

Quick Stop in Asheville on the way home

We decided to drive the long way back to Nashville through the Carolinas and Knoxville.

I highly recommend taking this route! You get to drive over Savannah’s Talmadge Memorial Bridge, wander through the back roads of South Carolina and part of the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina. It’s such a calming, scenic drive and takes you through Asheville, which we had to stop at for a nice lunch.

We found The Cantina Historic Biltmore Village — the cutest little German inspired village & adorable backdrop! Inside is the best cantina vibe ever and an awesome tequila bar (sadly I couldn’t enjoy any drinks since we still had to drive).

Their queso and salsas were fantastic! The red one is a bit spicy. I’m a total baby when it comes to spice though.

We shared two quesadillas: The Biltmore, a classic chicken quesadilla with the most delicious sun-dried tomatoes and the AshVeggie, stuffed with eggplant, spinach, pico, jack and goat cheese (my absolute favorite cheese!)

If you get a chance to stop in here do not pass it up! This was the best little break from driving for us and Maddi.

The Cantina Historic Biltmore Village is located at 10 Biltmore Plaza, Asheville, NC

Driving through a small portion of Asheville made me realize how much I want to come back and explore the area! It’s definitely next on my list for trips. So far, Grand Bohemian Asheville is high on the list of places to stay but we’ll see where the road takes us.

Asheville is known to be a very dog-friendly town. Y’all know what that means!
Keep an eye out for Maddi’s next venture and how to spend a Dog-Friendly Getaway in Asheville!

Thanks for Joining us on this amazing trip to Savannah!

Thanks & we wish you the best,
